PROCESS OF GHF
GHF's task is to seek private donors, approve properties offered, select candidate home-buyers and coordinate the entire process from the site selection.
Partnerships
The whole operation involves a partnership between the public and private sectors. Local governments are called upon to donate land, secure the ownership rights, and to provide basic utilities and services. GHF then develops the homes for the former slum occupants. GHF also works with many organizations like FIABCI and the UN-HABITAT commission who lends its assistance to project feasibility studies and facilitates contracts with the local authorities. |

Fundraising
In January 2006, GHF launched a new concentrated integrated marketing campaign at the National Association of Home Builders International Builder's Show. Currently, GHF is hosting an aggressive publicity campaign at major international conferences, trade shows, ground breaking ceremonies and new development ribbon cutting ceremonies. |
Interviewing People For Homes
Families are selected based upon their qualifications to repay a "micro-mortgage". Local banks qualify the families and originate
the loans, while local housing authorities work with our program to provide land and infrastructure at a very low cost.

Building the Homes
Stimulating the local economy, GHF uses local workforce as well as local building contractors. Specific criteria was defined, in conjunction with local United Nations agencies. Two types of homes were designed: a 3-room dwelling with 40 square meters of living space, and 4-room dwelling measuring 50 square meters. All of the houses contain a bathroom, kitchen, two bedrooms, clean running water, a septic system and electricity. |
